Poor Abby has the worst luck! TEMPTING THE LIGHT WEEKEND WRITING WARRIORS 2-28-16

Poor Abby has the worst luck!
Set up for excerpt. Abby is in the bathroom at the Expo Center and bought a box of tampons.
  Excerpt:
A girl in white pants jumping rope was printed on the front of the package. Only someone who had never experienced slasher week at panty camp could have thought that one up. She tore off the cellophane and opened the package.
A green fog steamed out of the box and a large green man in billowing pants and gold shoes formed, blocking the exit. She scrambled backward, away from him.
Several noises that didn’t resemble human speech squeaked from her mouth. She ran to the two stalls but both doors were locked. Plastering her back against the furthest wall, she couldn’t breathe. No matter how hard she tried to suck in a breath it wouldn’t hit her lungs.
One thing she was sure of, this guy wasn’t looking for a urinal.

Tempting The Light Blurb:

Bad luck magnet Abby Fitzpatrick gets fired, catches her boyfriend cheating with a mime, and is cursed by an evil genie who pops out of a tampon box. She’s bound and determined to remove the spell, and as fate would have it, the hottest guy she’s ever met is out to kill her.

River Stone, a Cryptid hunter for Legends and Myths Police Squad (L.A.M.P.S.), poses as sheriff for Abby’s hometown of Haber Cove, New Jersey. He’s out to find and capture a man-eating gnome and bag the legendary Jersey Devil monster. Little does he realize, the woman who catches his heart is the same creature that he was sent to destroy.

Tempting the Light is the first novel in the L.A.M.P.S. series that features hunky secret agents who find true love while hunting and slaying dangerous Cryptids.

Available at Amazon in Spring 2016

Ever have one of those days? Weekend Writing Warriors TEMPTING THE LIGHT 2-21-16

Hello readers. Today I'm sharing an excerpt from my novel Tempting The Light. It's a romantic comedy with paranormal elements. Soul Mate Publishing will be releasing it this spring.

The Excerpt...
"You’re freaking cheating on me?" Abby Fitzgerald didn’t expect a surprise birthday party when she got home today. She didn’t expect bold colored daisies or pretty wrapped gifts. But most of all she didn’t expect to find her live-in boyfriend Burt, engaged in a spooge-a-paloosa fest with a chick dressed as a mime. Her crazy old grandmother warned her she would be cursed on her twenty-fifth birthday, but who would have believed it?
Burt slapped his body up against the mime from behind in a vigorous frenzy on the sleigh styled queen-sized bed. The woman’s hands and painted white face pressed up against an invisible window with his arm wrapped around her waist to keep her vertical. Her lips parted into an "O" breaking the sex-me-up red heart painted across them.

Abby stared in horror at Burt with his mouth open and eyes closed, savoring the sheer ecstasy.
Here is the blurb...

Halloween DIY Decorations

This year I decided to create some Halloween decorations that I saw on Pinterest.
My first project was a haunted dollhouse I saw on this website---> DIY haunted dollhouse
Here is my after picture. I spray painted it and highlighted with purple and orange acrylic paint.
This is the before picture. I purchased this dollhouse on Craig's list.

My next project was a crystal ball. I saw the instructions on this website click to see--> DIY Crystal Ball
Since I didn't have a Pottery Barn Cloche (I didn't even know what that was) I improvised with a light globe that I found on ebay and a candlestick holder.
It turned out pretty cool.

How about you? Please share any crafts you made this year.

Chalvaren Rising will be released soon!

The release day for Paula Millhouse's new novel Chalvaren Rising should be any day now. If you like dragons with a personality this story is packed with them. I absolutely loved this book. Mia and Kort have great sexual tension while they are trying to save Chalvaren. Magnus the dragon is adorable even though he can eat you for lunch. The villain is one whacked out elf who takes evil to a whole new level.

Paula Millhouse Goodreads Link

With the love of Kort, Chalvaren’s warrior-prince heir, Mia Ansgar will seize her birthright and become the great dragon-riding wizardess prophesied to free that elven kingdom from her embittered sorceress kin.

The cover is so beautiful.

 Here's the book trailer.

TO ASCEND TRIUMPHANT
Twenty-five years ago, Theo Ansgar abandoned the Kingdom of Chalvaren for a hiding place on another world. Some called him traitor. Some, thief. Now his fully grown daughter Mia must return to the land of her birth…and their war.
It was the elf prince Kort Elias who brought her back. Theirs was an instant connection, an inescapable union of body, soul and sorcery, reminding Mia of what she truly is, and what she must become. There is also Magnus, destined to be more potent than any wyrm Chalvaren has ever seen, a three-day-old dragonlet Mia must nurture and then ride. And then there is the Dragonstone, an artifact of power nonpareil. Joined, they can tip the scales of battle against the wraith-possessed forces of darkness, of Mia’s own embittered kin.
Redemption will be offered, the protected will become the protector, and an ancient prophecy will come to fruition, but only righteous love can conquer all.

5 Ways to volunteer at an animal rescue or shelter when you have littleor no time

We fostered Barbie and decided to adopt her.
Ways to volunteer at an animal rescue or shelter when you have little or no time.
Many of us want to help out animals but if you work and have children that leaves little or no spare time. Here are five ways you could help out your community rescue.

1.     Share facebook posts. You probably follow a rescue or two, why not share a post of an available animal? You never know, maybe one of your friends may be looking for that special pet. If you’re worried about clogging your wall up with animals looking for a home, just share one or two a week.

2.     Print out flyers from rescue websites and pin them to community bulletin boards. Many of the rescue’s websites have a feature where you can print out flyers of the animals available. Just print out a couple and pin them to community bulletin boards at work, pet stores, vet offices, and supermarkets.

3.     Donate extra supplies. Old towels, blankets, cages, and toys are great. If you can swing it, how about picking up an extra pack of puppy pads or paper towels the next time you're out shopping?

4.     Dog walkers. Many of the people who foster have multiple animals and could use the help. The dogs also get socialized with other people. It’s a win-win situation.

5.     Fostering. This one seems scary but is most rewarding. For every animal that is fostered it saves a life. Opening your home to a homeless animal is the best feeling. These animals have had a rough past and appreciate the love and care you can give them.

So now you have no excuse. Go out there and help out an animal rescue or shelter.

Foster Dogs

Hello Everyone,

Lately I've been fostering dogs for Animal Education and Rescue.
I've had two Italian Greyhound mixes and they've both been wonderful dogs. They both were adopted pretty quickly.

I've learned many things these past few weeks. It's very hard to let a foster dog go. You pour your love and time into them so they start acting like a real dog only to have to give them up. What I keep having to remind myself is that it's about the dog. Not me. For every dog I foster saves a dog's life. If there are no open foster homes the dogs don't get pulled. Our rescue combs through the applications and calls references so I know they will have a great home.

Here is some of the PR that I made for the fosters.

This is Chloe.

Daisy decided she wanted Movie Trailers.
