Here is the set-up for this week's excerpt. It is edited to fit the 10 sentence rule.River's friend and colleague Ottar is helping him track down the Gnome and Jersey Devil. It's dark and Ottar is Jet lagged so he mistakes a life-size dinosaur statue for a cryptid. Oh and yes, he's an Australian.

"Bloody hell." Ottar raised his gun a second time.

River placed his hand on the barrel and lowered it. "You just shot a dinosaur statue. I think you’ve been out in the field too long, you crazy bastard."
Ottar lifted his left palm. "Crikey, who in their right mind has a brachiosaurs in their front yard?"
"That would be Pepper and I can’t wait to hear you explain why you shot her sculpture with a tranq gun."
"Yeah, well, she must have a few wallabies loose in the upstairs paddock." He pointed to the side of his head and made a circle with his finger.

Bad luck magnet Abby Fitzpatrick gets fired, catches her boyfriend cheating with a mime, and is cursed by an evil genie who pops out of a tampon box. She’s bound and determined to remove the spell, and as fate would have it, the hottest guy she’s ever met is out to kill her.

River Stone, a Cryptid hunter for Legends and Myths Police Squad (L.A.M.P.S.), poses as sheriff for Abby’s hometown of Haber Cove, New Jersey. He’s out to find and capture a man-eating gnome and bag the legendary Jersey Devil monster. Little does he realize, the woman who catches his heart is the same creature that he was sent to destroy.

Tempting the Light is the first completed novel in the L.A.M.P.S. series that features hunky secret agents who find true love while hunting and slaying dangerous Cryptids.

Happy weekend everyone.
I hope you all have a great Sunday and a happy holiday if you celebrate Easter. We are officially in spring! Although, it's freaking freezing where I live. Here's a spring picture to celebrate. Well, it's kind of springy.

This week's blurb is Abby and Pepper talking in private. Abby turned into the Jersey Devil the night before and doesn't remember anything. River the sheriff just dropped by to see if they knew anything about Mr. Livingston who is missing. Abby is kind of freaking out.

Pepper tossed some ice cubes in a glass then poured the tea. "Causing someone pain is not in that small body of yours. Now go and take the nice sheriff his drink and stop looking guilty."
"But I have no idea what I did last night as—as that creature." Abby was sure she was suffering a nervous breakdown. They would haul her to the insane asylum and wrap her in a nice white jacket then throw her in one of those pillow rooms—until they decided to strap her to a chair and make her sizzle as if she were a bug in a zapper.
Pepper’s brows lowered in concern. “We’ll figure this out. You won’t change for another month, right?" Pepper handed the tea to her and gave her a nudge toward the waiting sheriff.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I can't wait to read everyone's fabulous snippets.

Mastering the art of deception Weekend Writing Warriors 3-20-16

This weeks snippet is in River's (My hero) point of view. Abby and Pepper are inside and he's waiting for them.

River mastered reading the signs of deception long ago and these two women displayed almost every one. Maybe they had nothing to do with the disappearance of Mr. Livingston, but his intuition said the two ladies were up to no good. The taller blonde covered for Abby. Still, Abby’s cute brown curls almost hid her tiny face, the face of an angel—a fallen angel. If he could get her alone without the Amazon, he’d no doubt coax her into telling the truth.

White sheets flapped in the light friendly breeze on a clothesline that stretched from an old pine tree to a steel pole. It reminded him of growing up in California. He walked past the giant dinosaur sculpture in the yard—how freaky was that—over to the smoldering ashes in the fire pit. With a long stick, he poked around in the hot embers, denim and a few other scraps of material hid under a burnt log. Someone had tried to burn his or her clothes?

TEMPTING THE LIGHT will be released April 20th.

I wanted to say "Thank You" to everyone who commented on my blog the past few weeks. I've enjoyed reading all of your blurbs.
Set up for the excerpt:
Abby turned into the Jersey Devil the night before. The hot sheriff pays the girls a visit. Abby is attracted to him but is nervous because she has no idea what she did as the Jersey Devil.

Abby’s lips parted. A strong urge to touch his golden blond curls waving from under his sheriff’s hat tugged at her hands.
Pepper raised her eyebrows in an I’m-enjoying-the-view sort-of way.
"Morning, ladies. Do you have a minute?" His deep husky voice dripped over Abby, warm and sweet like honey—before  killer bees flew in for attack. He tipped his hat and smiled enough to show a glimpse of healthy, white teeth.
"Well I’ll be darned. You’re the new sheriff?" Pepper asked.

Release date is April 20th

Thank you everyone who has been reading and commenting on my blog. I tried to comment on everyone's excerpts. Some I commented late, and some I couldn't find. I'm so sorry. I had to work all day Sunday and I had to finish my final edits for my editor. I promise this Sunday I'll do better.

About the Excerpt.
Abby turned into the Jersey Devil the night before and changed back to a human the next morning. She doesn't remember what she did as the Jersey Devil. She is talking to her best friend Pepper about it. Pepper is a big supporting character in this story. I had so much fun writing them.

Excerpt:

“You can’t remember anything?”
“It’s like that time I drank too many cosmos at Donna’s party and wore panties on my face and draped a sheet over my shoulders for a Superman cape," Abby said.
"You ran around cheering ‘I’m a superhero.’ Then you kissed Johnny stinky pits." Pepper shivered as if the temperature outside dropped twenty degrees.
"I can’t remember any of that night either, but I’m forever haunted by the pictures on social media." She made sure the end phrase held a silent scolding.
You swore you were Cat Woman, and called Carol the Penguin." She waddled around flapping her elbows. "She does resemble a penguin."

Poor Abby has the worst luck! TEMPTING THE LIGHT WEEKEND WRITING WARRIORS 2-28-16

Poor Abby has the worst luck!
Set up for excerpt. Abby is in the bathroom at the Expo Center and bought a box of tampons.
  Excerpt:
A girl in white pants jumping rope was printed on the front of the package. Only someone who had never experienced slasher week at panty camp could have thought that one up. She tore off the cellophane and opened the package.
A green fog steamed out of the box and a large green man in billowing pants and gold shoes formed, blocking the exit. She scrambled backward, away from him.
Several noises that didn’t resemble human speech squeaked from her mouth. She ran to the two stalls but both doors were locked. Plastering her back against the furthest wall, she couldn’t breathe. No matter how hard she tried to suck in a breath it wouldn’t hit her lungs.
One thing she was sure of, this guy wasn’t looking for a urinal.

Ever have one of those days? Weekend Writing Warriors TEMPTING THE LIGHT 2-21-16

Hello readers. Today I'm sharing an excerpt from my novel Tempting The Light. It's a romantic comedy with paranormal elements. Soul Mate Publishing will be releasing it this spring.

The Excerpt...
"You’re freaking cheating on me?" Abby Fitzgerald didn’t expect a surprise birthday party when she got home today. She didn’t expect bold colored daisies or pretty wrapped gifts. But most of all she didn’t expect to find her live-in boyfriend Burt, engaged in a spooge-a-paloosa fest with a chick dressed as a mime. Her crazy old grandmother warned her she would be cursed on her twenty-fifth birthday, but who would have believed it?
Burt slapped his body up against the mime from behind in a vigorous frenzy on the sleigh styled queen-sized bed. The woman’s hands and painted white face pressed up against an invisible window with his arm wrapped around her waist to keep her vertical. Her lips parted into an "O" breaking the sex-me-up red heart painted across them.

Abby stared in horror at Burt with his mouth open and eyes closed, savoring the sheer ecstasy.
Here is the blurb...
