Every weekend a wonderful blog hop happens where writers, known as the Weekend Writing Warriors share creative snippets of their stories. Click the box below to visit the other bloggers. Like our posts and leave a comment. Writers thrive on comments.
Thank you everyone who has been reading and commenting on my blog. I tried to comment on everyone's excerpts. Some I commented late, and some I couldn't find. I'm so sorry. I had to work all day Sunday and I had to finish my final edits for my editor. I promise this Sunday I'll do better.
About the Excerpt.
Abby turned into the Jersey Devil the night before and changed back to a human the next morning. She doesn't remember what she did as the Jersey Devil. She is talking to her best friend Pepper about it. Pepper is a big supporting character in this story. I had so much fun writing them.
Excerpt:
“You can’t
remember anything?”
“It’s like that
time I drank too many cosmos at Donna’s party and wore panties on my face and
draped a sheet over my shoulders for a Superman cape," Abby said.
"You ran
around cheering ‘I’m a superhero.’ Then you kissed Johnny stinky pits."
Pepper shivered as if the temperature outside dropped twenty degrees.
"I can’t
remember any of that night either, but I’m forever haunted by the pictures on
social media." She made sure the end phrase held a silent scolding.
You swore you
were Cat Woman, and called Carol the Penguin." She waddled around flapping
her elbows. "She does resemble a penguin."
Available Spring 2016
Bad
luck magnet Abby Fitzpatrick gets fired, catches her boyfriend cheating with a
mime, and is cursed by an evil genie who pops out of a tampon box. She’s bound
and determined to remove the spell, and as fate would have it, the hottest guy
she’s ever met is out to kill her.
River
Stone, a Cryptid hunter for Legends and Myths Police Squad (L.A.M.P.S.), poses as sheriff for Abby’s
hometown of Haber Cove, New Jersey. He’s out to find and capture a man-eating
gnome and bag the legendary Jersey Devil monster. Little does he realize, the
woman who catches his heart is the same creature that he was sent to destroy.
Tempting
the Light is the first novel in the L.A.M.P.S. series that features
hunky secret agents who find true love while hunting and slaying dangerous Cryptids.

ReplyDeleteOh, those late night Social Media pictures we all wish we could unpublish...
Great snippet, Bonnie, and I'm excited about your new book.
Thanks Paula.
DeleteI'm so glad they didn't have social media when I was young.
It sounds as though the only thing she didn't do when she got drunk was wear a lampshade as a hat. Cool snippet.
ReplyDeleteThey are a wild pair. Those crazy girls.
Delete(Laughing) Brilliant visuals... Eye worms, in fact!
ReplyDeleteKim, I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteThanks so much
(Laughing) Brilliant visuals... Eye worms, in fact!
ReplyDeleteOne can only imagine what she did as the Jersey Devil. Doesn't sound good.
ReplyDeleteCara,
DeletePoor Abby has the worst luck.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Haha, great girl-talk. If that's how she acted after a few too many drinks, I have to wonder how bad she was as Jersey devil!
ReplyDeleteShe gets into all kinds of trouble.
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by.
That is the problem with social media. Before, people might forget... but the internet never does! Hopefully she wasn't caught on camera as the Jersey Devil!
ReplyDeleteCaitlin,
DeleteSomeone always has a camera ready.

Too funny! Great back and forth with her friend. My TBR is to the ceiling already, but I have to read this one too!

Thanks for stopping by.
Fun and entertaining snippet. I'm a sucker for great back-and-forth dialogue, and this was some good stuff. Sad that she became a social media pariah, though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi T.M.
DeletePepper and Abby were so much fun to write. I can't wait to write Pepper's story. I love writing friends.
Thanks for stopping by.
These two sound like a hoot to be around. Can't wait to hear more from them. When do we get to find out what she did as the Jersey Devil? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jenna,
DeleteThey are a hoot.
I love the humor in this. And I laughed out loud when I read the blurb for the full novel. It sounds like a fun read.
